Fancy a Toasted Teacake?

19 Apr

The new issue of The Knitter is out and I’ve got a design in it – hurrah!

Toasted Teacake (Rav link) is a top down raglan cardigan in sizes from age 2 to age 9. It’s a double knitted garment, so it’s completely reversible – two tops for the price of one! It’s also a great way to practise double knitting if you’ve not tried it before, as it’s not a huge project. It’s knitted in Lang Golf, but if you don’t have this at your local yarn shop then Rowan Cotton Glace would be a perfect substitute. Both are available in a wide variety of lovely colours. There are some other amazing designs in The Knitter this month, although I would say that I guess :D…

Double knitting doesn’t just give you reversible fabric. You can use the technique to make two at a time socks – one inside the other. How clever is that? Here’s a great Knitty tutorial which explains two at a time socks really well.

And if you’re in the mood for a Toasted Teacake or perhaps a Sherbert Fountain, then do check out amazing retro sweetshop Treasure Island Sweets, who gave me the idea for the name.

Love your design ‘OYSTER’.(as seen on ravelry) hope to find it available on ravelry soon as I am unable to get Knitters mag here in my tiny town in central Georgia. Just wanted to let you know your work is appreciated and admired.

Hi there. Thanks so much for the compliment! You can buy a digital copy of the magazine via Zinio here or you can buy a hard copy back issue here and have it delivered to you – it’s not up on this site yet but give it a week and it should be.
Patterns from The Knitter are not generally hosted in PDF form on Ravelry unfortunately. Hope that helps!
